How Do I Ensure My Project Is Done Right?
There are several things to consider when choosing a contractor for your bathroom.
While it may seem like a small space, a bathroom is one of the places in your home where multiple practices converge.
- Framing – Plumbing –Electrical – Drywall –Paint – Finishing – Tile work – Flooring – Building envelope –Roofers – HVAC – just to list a few.
Hiring a handyman contractor to do your bathroom can have serious ramifications, not only is there multiple trades required to finish your project but it sees the most amount of water, in liquid form, waste water and vapor. If water is getting into your home it can result in mold, rot and even structural damage.
Here are a few questions to ask?
- What sort of moisture proof products do you use?
- Do you water test your shower prior to installing tile?
- Will you pull a plumbing permit? (required)
- Will you pull an electrical permit? (required)
- Will you properly vent moisture out of my home and how?
- A bath fan should vent to the outside as directly as possible. If ducting is going through an attic space it needs to be insulated.
